PROJECTS
1
TEACHING
To volunteer as a teacher you are required to have good English skills, both written and spoken. Some of our projects
and others you can do with no teaching qualifications, as you work with the youngest students and in close cooperation with local teachers.
2
Childcare Orphanage:
Childcare and orphanage work is one of the more popular programmes that volunteers choose to work with. Mostly you will be working with the staff taking care of the children from morning until evening. This project will be one of the best experiences creating a bond with the children and also be a witness to the amount of changes you can make.
3
Medicine and health
Volunteering in our healthcare programs is only an option for healthcare professionals and students.
Doctors, midwifes, nurses, medicine-, midwifery- and nurse-students are allowed at this program with their documents of qualifications. Volunteering in healthcare you will experience the cultural difference also in the healthcare system as a whole. This can be a challenge as a western medicine practitioner, because you will experience things being done in a different way from what you are used to.
4
Sports
The sports program is an extra program for all volunteers where you will have the opportunity to go do sports and games with children from different communities. It can for example be arranging a soccer or basket competition after school or spending a Saturday with you or children to raise awareness of sports and good health.
5
Safari and adventures:
Being that Arusha is located in the northern part of Tanzania, and with all of its attractions, it is one of the go-to cities for travelers from all over the world.
Arusha is well-known for its landscapes and wildlife, and especially for its amazing national parks, such as Lake Manyara with its climbing tree lions, or the Ngorongoro Crater with its amazing nature. Also not forgetting the “roof of Africa” also known as Mount Kilimanjaro, and the Serengeti.
We will make sure to provide the best safaris and adventures available, in both the mainland and Zanzibar.
We will make sure to arrange the best safaris and adventures available in both mainland and Zanzibar.

Drugs
& HIV/AIDS
Volunteering in this program requires extensive experience on this field, with either healthcare, or counseling and therapy.
We offer counseling to teenagers, young adults and elders who are addicted to drugs and also to family members of drug addicts. The goal is to help give people the tools to get out of their addictions. We also inform about how to avoid the spreading of HIV and how to maintain a more healthy lifestyle.
7
Maasai Women
With this program our volunteers get to explore the culture and area of the Maasai people. The aim is to help educate young Maasai women with healthcare, environmental care and other tools they can use to build up their local communities. The Maasai culture still practices female genital mutilation, and Uhuru Projects fight for women’s right to not be circumcised against their will. We believe this will have a positive impact on the activities in the local communities.
8
Culture Exchange. Music and Arts.
Tanzania has more than 160 local languages, and in this is also different cultures and customs, that in the end are all united into one common language; known as the Swahili language.
Swahili is a variety of different languages put together, in example Bantu from the coast of East Africa, Arabic, German and English from the colonial times.
To get a taste of the Swahili culture, the volunteers will get to be with the local Swahili people, in order to get a thorough and educational understanding of the community.
The volunteers will get involved with music, painting, carving, drawing, traditional dancing and food.
